Monte Il Palombaio

The 41 hectare hazelnut grove is the main culture of azienda agricola Monte il Palombaio. Every year an average of 60 tonnes of hazelnuts are sold to a large company. We believe in Nature helping Nature and therefore the Palombaio soils are grassy and rich in flora to support the fauna that helps ripen the precious fruit of the hazelnuts that are harvested in September.

7 hectares of chestnut grove, in the heart of which can be found a house that was once a shepherd’s hut, and now converted into a beautiful villa, the Casale Pomodoro. The forest has been regenerated after years of suffering due to a natural pest that has now been defeated. A delicious chestnut jam, the marronata, is made from the harvest.

The 8 hectares of olive groves are well exposed to the sun, which together with the cultivated varieties of Frantoio, Moraiolo and Canino, make it possible to obtain a crisp and sweet quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which is pressed in Blera at the Cooperativa Agricola Colli Etruschi. Our EVO oil is sold to private individuals, as well as to restaurants and grocery stores. In the mutual support meaning, on our farm the animals are free to roam around the garden, fresh products are harvested almost all year round. In addition to fresh eggs, we harvest tomatoes, from which an excellent passata is made, and various types of vegetables and fruit, producing chutneys and jams.
